Honyu joined AXA IM in May 2014 as Senior Portfolio Manager on the Asian Fixed Income team. Honyu is leading the team’s efforts in developing the local interest rates and currency investment process. He oversees the formulation of the local interest rate and currency investment process; the integration of the regional rate & currency platform with the global one, as well as the rollout of various local market fixed income products.
Prior to joining AXA IM, Honyu worked as an Associate Director at HSBC Global Asset Management in Hong Kong. Aside from managing a number of investment grade credit mandates, he managed most of HSBC Asian Fixed Income team’s insurance mandates. Honyu was also a key contributor to the local rates and currency investment strategy process for HSBC’s Asian Fixed Income team. Prior to joining HSBC, Honyu worked for Goldman Sachs as a treasury analyst.
During his tenure at HSBC, Honyu managed a broad range of mandates that spanned both passive and active strategies. He invested for local currency bond portfolios, money market funds, ETF’s and USD credit mandates for insurance, retail, pension, agencies and central banks.
Honyu holds a Bachelor of Science degree on the Dean's list from the University of Toronto (Canada), an MBA in Finance from York University (Canada), and is a CFA charter holder
