Prior to his appointment as Lead Economist at the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), Mr. Neri served as economics and banking sector analyst for a former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas‐Monetary Board Member (BSP‐MBM). He was also a consultant at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), providing technical support and assistance in capacity building efforts for the International Finance Policy Office (IFPO) of the Department of Finance (DoF), Republic of the Philippines from 2002 to 2006.
Mr. Neri also worked in the academe, as Senior Economist at the School of Economics (SEC) of the University of Asia and the Pacific specializing in openeconomy monetary and fiscal policy analysis.
Mr. Neri’s team manages to consistently rank in Bloomberg’s survey of analysts in their monthly and quarterly economic indicator and financial market polls. In 2014, he led the team that won “Overall Best in Local Currency Interest Rate Research and Market Coverage in the Philippines” given by ward‐winning body Asiamoney Magazine for the year 2013. Jun was also voted in polls conducted by The Asset
magazine and the Fund Managers Association of the PHL (FMAP) as #3 best Fixed Income economist in the PHL for 2013 and 2014, the only one voted from a domestic bank. He is also currently a member of Board of Trustees of the Philippine Economic Society (PES), representing the private sector.
His published work includes a paper cited in working papers from the (U.S.) National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and the San Francisco Federal Reserve (Pacific Basin Working Paper Series).
